About this destination
Portofino occupies a sheltered inlet on the eastern Ligurian Riviera — a horseshoe of ochre, pink and yellow facades around a tiny harbour, protected by a forested promontory that is itself a regional park. The Piazzetta is the social heart; the climb past the Church of San Giorgio leads to Castello Brown and the lighthouse with one of the great Mediterranean views. Above the village, the Belmond Hotel Splendido and the Hotel Splendido Mare define old-school Riviera glamour. Day trips by water to San Fruttuoso Abbey and Santa Margherita Ligure complete the picture.
Best time to visit
May–September; June and September offer the warm sea without August saturation.
Why a private transfer
Access to the village is restricted by ZTL and parking is almost non-existent — a private Mercedes drops you at the official pickup point and waits in Santa Margherita.
