Èze — Medieval village above the Mediterranean

Èze — Medieval village above the Mediterranean

A perched stone village 429 metres above the sea, between Nice and Monaco.

About this destination

Èze-Village clings to a rocky peak 429 metres above the Mediterranean, halfway between Nice and Monaco. A maze of stepped lanes, vaulted passageways and stone houses leads up to the Jardin Exotique, where rare cacti and succulents share the summit with the ruins of a 12th-century château and one of the most photographed sea views in Europe. Below in Èze-sur-Mer is the Nietzsche path — the philosopher composed parts of Thus Spoke Zarathustra walking it — and the Fragonard perfumery, where guided visits trace the long Provençal art of perfume making.

Best time to visit

April–June and September–October for clear skies and cool village walks; avoid midday in July–August.

Why a private transfer

The village is car-free and the small parking fills early. A private driver drops you at the entrance and waits while you explore — no climbing back up with bags.
