Sigulda & Gauja National Park — Switzerland of Latvia

Sigulda & Gauja National Park — Switzerland of Latvia

Medieval castles, sandstone cliffs and the Gauja river valley — Latvia's oldest national park, 50 minutes from Riga.

About this destination

Sigulda sits on the rim of the Gauja primeval valley, with three castles in view: the 13th-century Sigulda Order Castle, the picturesque Turaida red-brick complex across the river, and the romantic Krimulda manor. The cable car over the valley, the Sigulda bobsleigh track (a 1986 Soviet-era Olympic facility, now open to public rides), Gūtmaņala — the largest cave in the Baltics — and kilometres of forest trails make this Latvia's most-visited inland destination.

Best time to visit

Late September to mid-October for the famous golden autumn; May–June for wildflowers.

Why a private transfer

Direct trains exist but luggage, bobsleigh gear and family logistics are easier door-to-door. Fixed price from Riga airport, city centre, or onward to Cēsis.
