Val d'Isère — high-altitude skiing in the Espace Killy

At 1,850 m at the head of the Tarentaise valley, Val d'Isère links with Tignes to form the legendary Espace Killy — 300 km of snow-sure pistes.

About this destination

Val d'Isère is the spiritual home of French ski racing — Jean-Claude Killy's hometown and a regular Coupe du Monde venue on the Face de Bellevarde. The village keeps a traditional core of stone and wood around the baroque Saint-Bernard church. Linked with Tignes via the Tovière pass, the Espace Killy domain ranges from 1,550 m to 3,456 m on the Grande Motte glacier — guaranteed snow from late November to early May. Off-slope: après-ski at La Folie Douce, family-run mountain restaurants and a few discreet 5-star hotels.

Best time to visit

December–early May. Glacier skiing available into spring.

Why a private transfer

The road from Bourg-Saint-Maurice climbs a series of switchbacks above 2,000 m. A Mercedes 4MATIC with experienced winter driver makes the difference.
