Zermatt — at the foot of the Matterhorn

Car-free alpine village beneath the iconic 4,478 m Matterhorn — world-class skiing, summer hiking and the Gornergrat railway.

About this destination

Zermatt is one of Europe's most famous mountain resorts: a car-free village of wooden chalets in the Mattertal valley, sitting directly beneath the unmistakable pyramid of the Matterhorn. The ski area links to Cervinia in Italy and offers year-round glacier skiing on the Klein Matterhorn — at 3,883 m the highest cable-car station in the Alps. In summer, the Gornergrat cogwheel railway, 400 km of hiking trails and the Five Lakes Walk make it equally compelling. Private chauffeurs drop off at Täsch (the last car-accessible village, 5 km below) for the shuttle train.

Best time to visit

December–April for skiing; June–September for hiking and high-altitude trails.

Why a private transfer

Zermatt is car-free; a private Mercedes from Geneva, Zurich or Milan to Täsch removes the airport-rail handover and lets you board the shuttle directly.
