Baltic Christmas Markets — Riga, Tallinn & Vilnius
Three of Europe's most atmospheric Christmas markets, set in medieval old towns under fresh Baltic snow.
About this destination
From late November to early January, the UNESCO-listed old towns of Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius transform into open-air Christmas villages. Riga's Dome Square (the city claims the first decorated Christmas tree, 1510) is ringed by timber stalls selling mulled wine (karstvīns), grey peas with bacon, smoked salmon and amber. Tallinn's market on Town Hall Square — repeatedly voted Europe's best — centres on a tall fir, reindeer rides and hot glögi. Vilnius creates Lithuania's most photographed Christmas tree on Cathedral Square and a charming market by the bell tower. All three cities are walkable, safe and a 1–1.5h flight from each other.
Best time to visit
Late November to 7 January; peak weekend traffic in mid-December.
Why a private transfer
Cold weather, luggage and limited downtown parking make a private chauffeur essential. We meet you at RIX, TLL or VNO with a warm vehicle and drive straight to your hotel or to the market entrance. Multi-city tours possible — Riga ↔ Tallinn (4 h), Riga ↔ Vilnius (4.5 h).
