Provence château tastings — Bandol, Cassis and the great estates
Private cellar visits and tastings at the most beautiful châteaux of Provence, from Bandol's mourvèdre to Aix rosé.
About this destination
Behind the Provence coast lies a constellation of historic estates — many of them genuine châteaux with stone façades, cypress alleys and centuries-old cellars. Around Bandol, eight villages on south-facing terraces grow mourvèdre into one of France's most age-worthy reds and a famously precise rosé. Cassis, the small coastal AOC near the calanques, is known for its mineral whites. Closer to Aix, the great Côtes de Provence and Coteaux d'Aix estates open their grounds for private tastings, often paired with olive oil and a tour of the vat room. We arrange the appointments and the route.
Best time to visit
April–June and September–October for ideal estate visits and harvest energy.
Why a private transfer
These estates are rural, with no public transport and serious tasting flights. A private chauffeur is the only practical way to visit three properties in a day, safely and without rushing.
