San Remo — Italian Riviera of Flowers

San Remo — Italian Riviera of Flowers

The first city of the Italian Riviera over the border — Belle Époque casino, palm-lined promenade and the famous Italian Song Festival.

About this destination

Sanremo sits on the Riviera dei Fiori, the western tip of Liguria, 55 km from Nice across the border. The medieval hilltop quarter of La Pigna spirals above pastel houses and the onion-domed Russian Orthodox Church (built for the Tsarist colony of the 1900s). The Casinò di Sanremo (1905) is one of only four in Italy. The Festival di Sanremo, held every February since 1951, is the country's most-watched television event and the launchpad of the Eurovision Song Contest. Year-round flower markets, Ligurian seafood and the Milan–Sanremo cycling classic complete the picture.

Best time to visit

March for flowers and the Milan–Sanremo race; February for the Song Festival; June–September for the sea.

Why a private transfer
