Bandol — Provence Wine Coast
A pastel fishing port between Toulon and Cassis, surrounded by the terraced vineyards of the AOC Bandol wine appellation.
About this destination
Bandol blends a classic Provençal harbour with one of France's most prestigious wine regions. The marina holds 1,600 boats and is fringed by ochre and pastel townhouses, palm-lined promenades and seafood restaurants. Inland, the AOC Bandol vineyards produce powerful Mourvèdre-based reds and elegant rosés on schist and limestone terraces around Le Castellet, La Cadière-d'Azur and Le Plan-du-Castellet. Île de Bendor, restored by Paul Ricard in the 1950s, sits a seven-minute boat ride offshore. The Circuit Paul Ricard race track is fifteen minutes away.
Best time to visit
April–June for wine tasting, September for harvest, July–August for the marina at peak.
