Cassis — Port of the Calanques

Cassis — Port of the Calanques

A pastel fishing village wedged between the towering Cap Canaille cliff and the white limestone fjords of the Calanques National Park.

About this destination

Cassis is one of the Mediterranean's most photographed harbours — a tight arc of pastel houses around fishing boats, with Cap Canaille (France's highest sea cliff at 394 m) rising behind. Boat tours from the port reach the calanques of Port-Miou, Port-Pin and En-Vau, where turquoise inlets cut deep into the white cliffs. The Cassis AOC, France's first official wine appellation (1936), produces crisp dry whites from twelve domains on the slopes around the village. Beyond Cap Canaille, the Route des Crêtes is one of Europe's most dramatic coastal drives.

Best time to visit

April–June and September–October for clear weather and accessible calanques. Boat trips depend on the mistral.

Why a private transfer

Cassis has very limited parking in summer (the village is often closed to cars) and the Route des Crêtes is winding. We drop you directly at the port, your hotel or a calanque trailhead — fixed price from Marseille, Aix or your villa.
