Gordes — Jewel of the Luberon
France's most photographed perched village — honey-stone houses cascading down a Luberon cliff.
About this destination
Gordes is the icon of the Luberon: dry-stone houses stacked on a rocky spur, crowned by a Renaissance château and a Romanesque church. Ranked among Les Plus Beaux Villages de France, it overlooks olive groves, vineyards and the Cistercian Abbaye de Sénanque, framed by lavender from mid-June to mid-July. The cobbled lanes lead to artisan boutiques, the Village des Bories (dry-stone huts) and viewpoints over the Vaucluse plateau.
Best time to visit
April–June for greenery and lavender (late June–mid July at Sénanque). September is calm and golden.
Why a private transfer
The D15 viewpoint, Sénanque and the village have narrow roads with very limited summer parking. Door-to-door from Avignon, Aix or Marseille — fixed price, no parking stress.
