Île de Porquerolles — Caribbean of Provence
The largest of the Îles d'Or, a car-free island of pine forests, vineyards and crystal-clear coves protected as a national park.
About this destination
Porquerolles lies a 20-minute ferry from La Tour Fondue on the Giens peninsula. The island is largely a Port-Cros National Park reserve — no private cars, hotels capped, and white-sand beaches (Plage Notre-Dame, Plage d'Argent, Plage de la Courtade) shaded by umbrella pines and eucalyptus. The village square keeps a Provençal feel with boules and pastis on the terraces. Three small AOC Côtes de Provence domains produce island wines, and the Fondation Carmignac contemporary art space is one of France's most striking museum settings. Bike rental is the way to explore.
Best time to visit
May–June and September–early October for warm sea and quiet beaches. July–August is busy but the island stays calmer than the mainland Riviera.
Why a private transfer
Logistics matter on the islands. We collect you from Nice, Marseille or Toulon, drive to La Tour Fondue and coordinate with the ferry schedule (luggage, child seats, return pickup) — door-to-pier, fixed price.
